Welcome to the Pack Horse Inn

The Pack Horse is a unique and exceptional pub and restaurant set in stunning Lancashire countryside and part of the charming and idyllic village of Affetside. The Pack Horse has been a part of the scenery for as long as there has been a village here and it is an integral part of both community life and on the itinerary of every walker and visitor to this area. Our reputation for genuine hospitality and fine food meant that we were even featured on ITV's Grubs Up food programme as well as being listed as a Manchester Evening News pub of the month.

Our customers tell us they enjoy the open fires that crackle in the winter, warm summer nights outside on the terrace, the views of countryside that stretch for miles and are dotted with sheep, a drink with friends in the cosy bar, divine dinners in our stunning restaurant, evenings spent with friends in the games room and the sense of welcome that The Pack Horse provides. 

At The Pack Horse in Affetside, we pride ourselves on creating sumptuous home-cooked food and serving it in the most perfect of settings. The cooking is a blend of the best of traditional and world cuisine; from sumptuous steaks cooked just the way you like them through to home-made pies, lighter snacks and excellent vegetarian and children’s choices. Our kitchen team take the finest of local ingredients, wherever possible, for freshness and flavour;  to create the dishes on our inspired menu, dishes that will keep you coming back for more.
From our rural position here alongside the quaint cottages of Affetside, you can truly get a feel for the past, a time less hurried and a time when all villages looked a lot like they do right here. Affetside sits atop a hill in the northwest corner of England, midway between Bolton and Bury in Lancashire. This is an area made beautiful by rich, fertile land that nature has decorated and wildlife calls home.
